Porter Walker G. 1862-1863 Diaries.

The diaries begin 20 August 1862 with Porter's enlistment in the 18th Michigan Infantry. He is in camps in Kentucky before being sent to Nashville where he guards the Statehouse and escorts prisoners to Louisville. Entries mostly concern military life, the weather and some skirmishes. In the back of Volume 2 is a list of the officers of the 18th Michigan Infantry, a commemorative to James Knox Polk and a newspaper clipping for a Confederate veteran reunion in Mobile in early 1900.
